One of the most award-winning skis of the 2010 season, the Gotama features ELP rocker and a new, rounded top edge for even beter maneuverability in deep snow. For good skiers who want a playful big mountain twin twip ski that you can also ski around the whole mountain every day. Features: - Carbon Powered
- Extended Low Profile - Round Shape Throughout: Volkl engineers have refined ELP, or elongated, low profile rocker design to match the new Gotama and other freeskiing models. Its round overall shape allows easy smearing and speed control without sacrificing the tracking characterisitics and firm snow performance of our big mountain skis. The profile features a smooth, gradual bend toward the nose and tail. It's high enough to float in the powder, but when you tip the ski on edge, there's more consistent edge contact, giving the skier more control, regardless of snow conditions.
- Extended Low Profile - Three Flex Zones: The Gotama and Kuro feature three flex zones: the front of the ski is stiff since the rocker design is pre-flexed, added stiffness in front provides stability. The flex in the mid-body of the ski is medium, providing a transition to the softer tail, which allows ease of turning on the groomed and maneuverability in powder.
- Extended Low Profile - Specific Sidecuts: Each Volkl ski with ELP has a sidecut that is adjusted to match its pre-flex design and intended use. Deep powder for the Kuro, switch riding for the Chopstick, high speed for the Katana, and all-terrain, all-conditions versatility for the Gotama and Kiku. All these shapes take groomed snow performance into account as well.
- Extended Low Profile - Lower Tip Shape: Part of the extended design is a lower tip shape, which provides a smooth ride on the groomed, and does not dive in soft snow since there is a consistent bend throughout the ski. Despite the lower profile, the ELP tip is the same height as a traditional tip, it just achieves the height over a longer distance.
- Multi-Layer Wood Core: Volkl freeskiing models with Titanal feature a multi-layer wood core that features two different densities of wood. In the binding attachment area, a dense, ash core is used, while in the rest of the ski, the core is poplar. The more dense wood create more secure screw retention, preventing binding pull-out, and the soft, supple poplar section allows for resilience and snap. The flex pattern is tailored to each ski model depending on the desired performance.
- Power Construction: Volkl's longest-running construction, Power Construction utilizies traditional vertical sidewalls and a torsion box internal layup. Used on the race stock skis as well as all the freeskiing models, this construction provides tremendous grip and stability when combined with the Sensorwood core.
