Not sure what your ski boot size is? Our ski boot size chart helps convert US shoe sizes to Mondopoint, the standard measurement used for ski boots. Mondopoint sizing is based on the length of your foot in centimeters, making it the most accurate way to determine your correct ski boot size. If you need help choosing the right boot size, the team at Aspen Ski and Board is happy to help. Call us at 614-848-6600 for a personalized recommendation from one of our experienced bootfitters.
If you are beginner, you will likely be okay in your exact size, however, if you are an experienced skier you should be in at least one size down from your shoe size conversion. Many experienced skiers that are properly fitted wear their ski boots multiple sizes down from their standard shoe size.
How to Measure Your Ski Boot Size at Home
The easiest way to determine your ski boot size is by measuring your foot in centimeters.
-
Place your heel against a wall.
-
Measure from the wall to the tip of your longest toe.
-
The measurement in centimeters equals your Mondopoint ski boot size.
Example:
A foot measuring 27 cm will typically fit a 27 / 27.5 ski boot.
Ski Boot Width Guide (Boot Last Explained)
In addition to length, ski boots are also built in different widths/volumes, this is known as the last of the boot. Choosing the right width is important for comfort and performance.
| Fit | Boot Last |
|---|---|
| Narrow Fit | 96–98 mm |
| Medium Fit | 99–101 mm |
| Wide Fit | 102 mm and above |
Its best to choose the width that is closest to your foot shape, but keep in mind ski boots can be stretched later if needed with the help of a bootfitter. When browsing ski boots online, you can use our filters to shop by narrow, medium, or wide ski boots.
How Should Ski Boots Fit?
Before you try on your new boots, ensure you are wearing a ski or snowboard specific sock (not to be confused with a long nike sock or thick hiking socks), ski/snowboard socks are designed to wick moisture from your skin and fit specifically in a boot, ensuring a warm and comfortable fit. When you first put your foot in your ski or snowboard boot, your toes will immediately hit the front of the boot. Before you buckle the boot, sit down and give your heel a few hard kicks on the ground to get your foot properly situated in the ski or snowboard boot. Now, you can begin buckling the boot up, the buckles should not be overly tight! In new ski boots, you want to be able to lift the buckles easily with 2 fingers, they should not need to be tighter than that. The top cuff of the boot should be snug to your leg, if you are feeling like this area is too tight but you are on the loosest buckle option, almost every ski boot has the ability for these buckles to be unscrewed with an allen wrench, star bit or screwdriver and moved to allow the boot to be tighter or looser. Ski Boot buckles on most adult boots are micro adjustable, meaning you can twist them left or right to loosen or tighten them.
Once you stand up in your ski or snowboard boot after kicking your heel back and buckling it up, your toes should be touching the front of the boot. When you flex your knee forward and press your shin into the front of the boot, you should feel your toes come back from the front of the boot. Please keep in mind, new ski and snowboard boots will break in about half a size after a few days of wear! This is the tightest the boot will ever fit. Many Skiers & Snowboarders need an orthotic insole to replace the stock insole in the boot. An Orthotic will correct pronation and make more room in the toe box. If you feel your size is correct but the fit is not quite right, you could always visit a local boot fitter for minor adjustments.
