FAQs

Q: Does my kid really need MIPS at this age?

A: MIPS protects against rotational impacts, which are the type of crashes most likely to cause concussions at any age. Kids and teens are statistically more likely to take angled falls because they're still developing balance and risk awareness, so the protection upgrade is especially worth it for young riders.

Q: How long will my kid grow out of this helmet?

A: Most kids stay in one size of the Crue for 2-3 winters thanks to the Auto Loc 2 dial's wide adjustment range. Helmets should be replaced after any significant impact or every 5 years regardless of fit.

Q: Is this covered by the Junior Trade-In Program?

A: Yes, kids helmets are included in the Junior Trade-In Program along with skis, snowboards, ski boots, snowboard boots, and bindings. Bring it back when your kid outgrows it for trade-in credit toward their next helmet.

Helmet Safety & Sizing

How to Measure Your Head

Using a soft tape measure, wrap it around your head about 1 inch above your eyebrows. That measurement in centimeters is your helmet size. Most helmets run in S/M/L/XL with size ranges printed on the box. If you're between sizes, size up and use the fit dial to snug it down.

MIPS Technology

MIPS (Multi-directional Impact Protection System) is a low-friction layer inside the helmet that allows the helmet to rotate slightly on impact, reducing rotational forces on the brain. We recommend MIPS for most skiers and snowboarders - it's especially valuable for kids and those who take big falls.
