Description

The Giro Tor Spherical Adult Helmet is built for skiers and snowboarders who want top-shelf rotational impact protection without giving up comfort or style. Spherical Technology powered by MIPS combines two layers of helmet liner that move independently, redirecting energy from angled impacts more effectively than a standard MIPS slip-plane. Lightweight In-Mold construction keeps the shell low-profile, and Stack Vents pull warm air out of your goggle vents to dramatically reduce fogging.

Key Features

  • Spherical Technology powered by MIPS for advanced rotational impact protection
  • Lightweight In-Mold construction with low-profile shell
  • Stack Vents work with goggle venting to reduce fogging
  • Auto Loc 2 fit system with micro-adjust dial for a secure, personal feel
  • Seamless helmet-to-goggle compatibility with the full Giro goggle lineup

FAQs

Q: Is Spherical Technology actually better protection than standard MIPS?

A: Yes, especially in real-world crashes that hit at an angle. Standard MIPS uses one slip-plane liner inside the helmet, Spherical builds that slip-plane between two full liner layers, so the helmet handles angled impacts more smoothly across a wider range of angles. For most resort skiers and snowboarders, that's the kind of crash you're most likely to take.

Q: Will the Stack Vents actually keep my goggles from fogging?

A: They make a real difference. Cold air comes in through the front of your goggles, warms up against your face, and needs somewhere to exit, Stack Vents are positioned directly above your goggle vents to pull that warm air up and out through the helmet. The end result is less lens fog on cold lift rides and warm hike-back climbs.

Q: Is the Tor a good fit for cold Midwest mornings?

A: The Stack Vents are adjustable, so you can close them down on a cold lift ride and open them up when you're skiing harder. Most Ohio and Midwest riders are comfortable with it on its own; a thin skull cap or balaclava handles single-digit days.

Helmet Safety & Sizing

How to Measure Your Head

Using a soft tape measure, wrap it around your head about 1 inch above your eyebrows. That measurement in centimeters is your helmet size. Most helmets run in S/M/L/XL with size ranges printed on the box. If you're between sizes, size up and use the fit dial to snug it down.

MIPS Technology

MIPS (Multi-directional Impact Protection System) is a low-friction layer inside the helmet that allows the helmet to rotate slightly on impact, reducing rotational forces on the brain. We recommend MIPS for most skiers and snowboarders - it's especially valuable for kids and those who take big falls.
