Pole Sizing Chart

Pole Length by Skier Height

This is the chart we use in the shop. Find your height on the left, grab the matching pole length on the right.

4'4" - 4'6" = 38"

4'7" - 4'9" = 40"

4'10" - 5'0" = 42"

5'1" - 5'2" = 44"

5'3" - 5'6" = 46"

5'7" - 5'10" = 48"

5'11" - 6'1" = 50"

6'2" - 6'4" = 52"

6'5"+ = 54"

The Quick In-Store Method

Flip the pole upside down so the grip is on the floor. Grab the pole just below the basket and stand it straight. Your forearm should be parallel to the floor, with the elbow bent at roughly 90 degrees. That's your pole length.

Style Adjustments

Park and freestyle. Size down 2 inches shorter for spins and rail tricks.

Powder. Stay neutral or size up if you ski a lot of flatter or deeper terrain.

Aluminum vs Carbon vs Hybrid

Aluminum

The classic. Affordable, very durable, and easy to bend back into shape if you tweak one. Aluminum poles are heavier than carbon, but for inbounds resort skiing you won't notice the difference. Best pick for first-time buyers, kids, and anyone hard on their gear.

Carbon

The lightest, stiffest option. Carbon poles transmit a more positive feel at the pole plant and reduce arm fatigue on long days. Trade-off: they crack rather than bend if you crash hard on them, and they cost more. Best pick for advanced skiers, backcountry days, and anyone counting grams.

Hybrid (Aluminum + Carbon)

Lower carbon shaft for stiffness, aluminum upper for durability where you grip them. A middle-ground option that gets close to carbon's weight savings at a more reasonable price.

Grips & Straps

Rubber. Standard, durable, grippy when wet. Most common.

Cork or foam. Warmer to the touch on cold days, often found on premium poles.

Dual-density. A mix of soft and hard rubber for better hand feel without losing grip.
